Ramapo College Placement Test: Ramapo requires a placement test before registering for Reading, Writing, and Math courses. For more information about Testing, visit the Testing link or call the Testing Coordinator at (201) 684-7560.
NOTE: Students can be waived from the test based on their SAT scores. Transfer students who have any credit in Math or English use those courses to determine placement, so do not take the test. Transfer students can also transfer their test scores from another school if the scores are less than three years old.
Calculus/Discrete Structures Entrance Test: Any student who wishes to take Calculus I but does not have college credit for pre-calculus, or any student who wishes to take Discrete Structures but does not have college credit for Pre-Calculus or Calculus I, must take the Calculus/Discrete Structures Entrance Test. Contact Testing for dates and registering for a test.
You must read the Comprehensive Guide to Advisement and Registration (link below) before you register.

More Specific Advice for:
New Transfers:
Use your transfer evaluation to determine the Ramapo courses for which you have credit. Note the Ramapo equivalents may have a different name, so go by the course ID#.
Meet with the convener of your major to discuss any transfer credits that need further evaluation for their applicability to the major, such as any determined to be unevaluated electives (course numbers ending in -98). Bring course descriptions to this meeting.
Choose courses for your major and any unfulfilled General Education requirements. Use your audit, available on the web, to assist you. Make sure you finish your English and Math requirements as early as possible.
Avoid courses that sound like ones you have already taken. Read the course descriptions carefully! Discuss these with your major advisor.
Write down all your choices and alternates before you register. This will help you register before you are timed out of the system.
Clear any holds that prevent you from registering.
Get permission from the instructor for any classes that need it, such as those in the Teacher's Education program.
Especially as you near graduation, meet with your major advisor to review your audit and discuss your academic plans. Discuss future career and/or graduate school plans.
Apply for graduation after you register for your last semester. Applications are available outside the Advisement Center.
