Ramapo Staff Association

Ramapo Staff Association Logo

The Ramapo Staff Association (RSA) is an advocacy and community building group designed as a resource to share information about the institution, support our interests as staff, provide social events and discuss trends in higher education as well as new techniques, policies, and procedures as they affect our work. Additionally, RSA is designed to enhance connectivity among its membership while supporting institutional quality and organizational cohesion.

The RSA membership is comprised of unionized and non-unionized staff, however, it does not engage in matters that are the purview of collective bargaining.

Feel free to send the Executive Board any comment or suggestions to rsa@ramapo.edu.

Enjoy some sweets and drinks on the RSA Executive Board as we host the last RSA General Membership Meeting for this semester! We are excited to go over the Staff survey results and clarify RSA’s role as a part of Ramapo College. We will also discuss events and our Spring 2024 election.

RSA 2023-2025 Executive Board

Abbe Benowitz, President

Abbe Benowitz joined Ramapo College in 2013 and is a Disability Counselor in the Office of Specialized Services. She works with students with disabilities to ensure equal access in the classroom and throughout campus. Abbe also co-facilitates a weekly social skills group for students on the autism spectrum as part of the College’s ENHANCE program. Abbe has previously served as the Advisor to Active Minds and was a founding member of the Wellness Coalition. Outside of work, Abbe can be found cheering her younger daughter on at various sports events or in the audience of a Broadway show.  Her older daughter is a student at Johnson & Wales University in Providence, RI.

Dr. Janelle McIntosh-Evans, Vice President

Dr. Janelle McIntosh-Evans joined Ramapo College in 2023 and is the Director of Employee Relations. She oversees the faculty tenure, reappointment, and promotion processes. She also counsels faculty and staff on policies and procedures. Before joining Ramapo College, Dr. McIntosh-Evans was the Employee Relations Manager at New Jersey City University (NJCU). In her role at NJCU, she focused on conducting fact-finding investigations regarding various complaints from employees and management and devoted considerable time to coaching managers to improve their people management competencies to become better leaders. Dr. McIntosh-Evans’ leadership and mindset are grounded in the motto embedded in her as a child, “Together We Aspire, Together We Achieve.”

Lisa Ambrose, Past-President

Lisa Ambrose joined Ramapo College in 2018 and is the Director of Communications and Public Relations. She is devoted to raising the visibility of the college through public relations, social media, and storytelling. Additionally, she is an instructor in the First-Year Seminar and teaches an introductory course on leadership. Lisa served on the RSA as a member at-large in 2020-2021, and then served as president in 2021-2023. When she isn’t planning travel itineraries with her family, taking an inordinate number of photos of her dog McKinley, or spamming friends with [what she feels are] humorous memes, you can find her curled up on her couch watching really, really bad reality TV shows.

Reilly Cox, E-Board

Reilly Cox joined Ramapo College in December 2021 and is the Office Coordinator in the Office of the Registrar. He works with students to increase awareness of Registrar functions, oversees the office’s communications, and holds student information sessions during registration periods. Reilly is a proud Ramapo graduate, class of 2019, and was a Teaching Assistant at Florida Atlantic University before coming back to Ramapo. Outside of work, Reilly enjoys going on a good hike (especially in a national park) or checking out a new movie.

Ariana Rivera, E-Board

Ariana Rivera joined Ramapo College in May, 2023 and is the Coordinator of Alumni & Constituent Relations. She works to increase alumni engagement via events and social media as well as working with the Foundation to engage populations in the community, such as the Friends of Ramapo. Ariana is a proud alumna, class of 2018, and before starting at Ramapo, was an Event Coordinator for AM Best. In her free time, Ariana can be found watching tv (usually cartoons) or trying out a new recipe from Instagram or Pinterest.
